Professor Wiater serves as a principal investigator in the Cluster of Excellence “Transforming Human Rights”. The Cluster of Excellence will re-examine the potential of human rights as a universal framework for addressing the fundamental changes shaping our era in political, economic, social, environmental, and technological contexts.

Forschungsnetzwerk „Human Rights in Investment Governance“
Professor Patricia Wiater coordinates the new research network “Human Rights in Investment Governance: Transformation, Contestation, and Practice,” which is launching its work as part of the Cluster of Excellence “Transforming Human Rights.” The network examines how human rights shape international investment law and its governance structures – and vice versa – with a particular focus on investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS).
Projekt „Where Human Rights Take Place“
How can human rights be conceptualized in a world shaped by mobility, digital networks, global infrastructures, and planetary environmental crises? Within the Cluster of Excellence Transforming Human Rights Professors Dr. Georg Glasze, Dr. Dr. Patricia Wiater, Dr. Sandra Jasper and Dr. Blake Walker will host a 2½-day interdisciplinary workshop from June 17 to 19, 2026.
